On paper, the Lenovo Legion Go portable console has incredible assets to claim. Let’s hope she confirms them.

Less than 800 euros with 8.8 inch screen
In his latest publication about the small portable console that Lenovo is preparing to market, our colleague points out that a very official document confirms all the rumors previously put forward.
Better, said document takes stock of all the characteristics and returns to two key elements in this already very competitive market: the price envisaged by Lenovo and the launch date of the console. For the first, in its basic version, it is about 799 dollars and 799 euros. Problem, we don’t know what this “ basic version “.
For the launch date, there is still no question of a specific day for its arrival at retailers, but there is talk more than insistently of a release in October 2023. It happens quickly!
854 grams?
The Legion Go is therefore in line with what we had been able to consider following the previous indiscretions of our colleague. First, it appears that the beast will benefit from the same chip as the ASUS ROG Ally, the famous AMD Z1, in its Extreme version.
The memory subsystem, on the other hand, should be much more robust than on the ASUS machine. Instead of the LPDDR5-6400 of the ROG Ally, we are talking about LPDDR5X-7500 on the Legion Go. More importantly, the Lenovo console will have the most impressive screen side: an IPS panel 8.8 inches with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz (VRR). The ROG Ally, with its 7-inch screen in 1080p and 120Hz, is the street.
To feed such a beast, Lenovo opted for an imposing 49.2 Whr battery, to oppose the 40 Whr of the ROG Ally and Steam Deck. Stronger, Lenovo would have managed to integrate all this without increasing the weight of its console too much: 640 grams, against 608 and 699 grams respectively on the ROG Ally and the Steam Deck. In reality, there is a trick: the figure presented is ” detached controllers “. With, we arrive at 854 grams. Ouch.
The detachable controllers are indeed another specificity of the Legion Go, which takes on the air of Switch here… weight aside, therefore! We will know more very soon, since everything suggests that the console will be presented from 1er September at the IFA in Berlin.
