LEP, Livret A, LDDS… Did you receive more interest than the average French person?

Caisse des Dépôts communicated this Tuesday on the monthly collection in December 2023 on the Livret A, the Sustainable and Solidarity Development Booklet (LDDS) and the Popular Savings Booklet (LEP). The opportunity also to look at capitalization and therefore the average interest received by French savers in 2023.

Regulated savings are on the rise. According to the latest figures from the Caisse des déptspublished this Tuesday, January 23, the cumulative outstanding amount of Livrets A and Livrets de développement durable et solidaire (LDDS) increased by more than 55 billion euros in 2023. For its part, the Livret d’Epargne populaire (LEP) , carried by a rate of 6% and whose ceiling was raised by 7,700 to 10,000 euros, records 20.67 billion in new contributions in 2023.

Interest paid during the year 2023 also broke records: 3.29 billion euros for the LEP, 11.3 billion euros for the Livret A or even 4.01 billion euros for the LDDS. But then, did you earn more interest than average in 2023?

Between 160 and 307 euros of interest on average depending on the booklet

With 3.29 billion euros of interest paid in 2023 on 10.7 million LEP, savers having access and having opened a popular savings account received on average 307.47 euros in interest at the end of December 2023.

THE 55.1 million of holders of A booklet have perceived 203.81 euros of interest on average, despite a rate of 3% in eleven of the twelve months of the year. This is explained in particular by the fact that one in two Livret A accounts does not contain more than 1,500 euros according to the latest report from the Regulated Savings Observatory.

Finally, if you had a LDDS from 24.8 million that we count in France, your average interests amounted to 161.69 euros. Net of taxes, received at the end of 2023 or at the very beginning of 2024 on your booklet.

SO, did you touch more or less? Obviously, it all depends on the amount placed in your booklet of savings. Thus, a LEP maintained at the regulatory payment ceiling all year round could bring in, according to our calculations, a little more than 485 euros.

For his part, a saver could expect 43.75 euros if the balance of his booklet A amounted to 1500 euros, 185.23 euros for 6351 euros deposited and up to 669.38 euros if the Livret A balance was at the ceiling of 22,950 euros. And more, of course, if you have exceeded this ceiling through interest capitalized over the years.
