Les Bleues sweep Romania 35-21 to qualify for the main round

The French handball players qualified for the main round of Euro 2022 by crushing Romania (35-21) Monday, November 7 in Skopje in their second match of the first round.

Les Bleues, Olympic champions, will play Wednesday, November 9, at 8:30 p.m., for first place in Group C against the Netherlands, victorious over North Macedonia (30-15) earlier in the evening. The results of the first round – including their great success against the modest North Macedonia (24-14) – being retained in the next one, the winning team will take an option on one of the places in the semi-finals, awarded to the first two nations of each group in the main round.

Apart from Montenegro, the two other opponents of pool D donated with the Blue remain to be determined. It could be Germany or Poland, which Olivier Krumbholz’s players dominated in October in a warm-up match, or even Spain.

nice attack

Sharp as usual in rising balls where the captain, Estelle Nze Minko, often concluded the counter-attacks (6 goals), the Olympic champions went up a notch in placed attack.

The shooting quality of Orlane Kanor (4 goals), back after suffering a shoulder injury, contributed to this. Like the influence of Grace Zaadi (3 goals), who disgusted her new teammates from CSM Bucharest, Cristina Neagu and Crina Pintea.

In front of the three-quarters empty stands of the Boris Trajkovski room, leaving the Macedonian flag clearly visible on the stands, Estelle Nze Minko became the second best French scorer in a Euro, tied with Siraba Dembélé (118 goals), but still behind Alexandra Lacrabère (154 goals).
