Les Choristes on France 2: what has become of Jean-Baptiste Maunier alias Morhange?


“Les Choristes” was released almost twenty years ago, but what has become of the interpreter of Pierre Morhange, the young rebel and nevertheless very good singer from the boarding school?

For those who have seen Les Choristes by Christophe Barratier with Gérard Jugnot, it is impossible to forget the young interpreter of Pierre Morhange, Jean-Baptiste Maunier.

Aged 13 when cast in the role, Maunier was already an accomplished singer and soloist. His performance as an actor and singer marks the spectators when the film is released, whose soundtrack by Bruno Coulais is a success. The feature film itself is one of the greatest successes at the French box office with 8.589 million admissions.

After a small role in the miniseries Le Cri by Hervé Baslé, Maunier joined the drama Le Grand Meaulnes (2006) in which he played opposite Nicolas Duvauchelle and Clémence Poésy and reunited with Gérard Jugnot for a new adaptation of L’Auberge rouge then Merlin series. Maunier interprets the famous knight Lancelot there.

He climbed twice on the boards to The Elephant Song by Nicolas Billon (2013) and Paprika, by Pierre Palmade (2018). Between the two, he released his first solo album, Nuits revolver.

Since 2022, his career has been very busy since he has doubled the character of Eliott Page since season 3 of The Boys, has played in Classico for Prime Video and has very recently joined the soap opera Tomorrow belongs to us. He will play Benoît, a new teacher of SVT (sciences and life of the earth) from the Agnès Varda high school.
