Les Enfoirés 2022: what you need to know about the arrival of Thomas Pesquet and Kylian Mbappé

The Omicron variant got the better of the organization of the last edition of Les Enfoirés. If many artists were forced to cancel their visit because of the Covid-19, Thomas Pesquet and Kylian Mbappé did indeed respond to the shows recorded in Montpellier.

This year, The Enfoirés once again had to improvise. Already deprived of the public last year due to health restrictions, the famous troupe was forced to give up performing in front of the thousands of people who had bought their tickets, because of the Omicron variant and the multiplication of the number of contaminations. A heartbreak for the artists who participate in the show, and a huge loss in terms of donations, as recalled by the president of the Restos du Coeur Patrick Douret who told the Parisian that the gauges imposed for the concerts made them lose “4 million euros, and therefore 4 million meals to distribute“. On Instagram, Patrick Bruel, the dean of the troop, had preferred to remain optimistic, declaring to his subscribers: “We were supposed to meet in Montpellier for the Restos du Coeur with the public, we will be in Montpellier with the whole Enfoirés team but unfortunately without an audience. But it’s for a good cause. And we are happy to go once again to go on this magnificent adventure of restaurants“.

It is therefore from January 20 to 24 that many artists met for the good cause, even if certain key figures could not respond, starting with Mimie Mathy, recently operated on her back. Against all expectations, Jenifer, Christophe Maé or even Jane Birkin, Michèle Laroque, Carla Bruni and Claire Keim, were also unable to go to Montpellier for this new adventure. Annoyed, Jenifer had explained on her Instagram page that she had contracted Covid-19 for the second time, and that she was not able to return to the troupe this year.

If many personalities are missing, some did not hesitate to step out of their comfort zone to support the team. This is particularly the case of Kylian Mbappé and Thomas Pesquet, who joined the Enfoirés this year. According to information from Parisian, the football star and the famous astronaut are expected to make several stage appearances, especially during the opening tableau, on the titles Upper of France Gall and in weightlessness of Calogero. “One will symbolize the Earth, the other space, it will be very beautiful“, confided Anne Marcassus, the artistic producer of Les Enfoirés. In 2019, Kylian Mbappé had already participated in the show, alongside Didier Deschamps. “I watched a lot with my mother. When they called me, I said yes right away, plus it was my mother’s dream to see me one day with the Enfoirés. So two reasons that made it sure that I was coming“, he confided at the time.

Two years earlier, Thomas Pesquet had meanwhile made a nice gift to the Enfoirés by appearing in the clip Just a little song… from the International Space Station! The head in the stars and the heart on the hand.
