Les Randonneuses on TF1: is the series with Clémentine Célarié taken from a true story?

Broadcast every Monday on TF1, is the series “Les Randonneuses”, carried in particular by Clémentine Célarié, Camille Chamoux and Alix Poisson, based on a true story? Fanny Riedberger, the creator of this feel good fiction, answered us.

Launched a few days ago on TF1 in front of more than 4 million viewers, the series Les Randonneuses tells the adventures of Noémie, Sara, Patty, Karen, Morgan and Valérie, six women directly or indirectly affected by cancer, who launch the challenge of climbing the Dôme de la Lauze, a summit of almost 4000 meters.

With its very fair way of talking about cancer, surpassing oneself and resilience through sport, but also the often very harsh consequences of the disease, this new mini-series carried by Clémentine Célarié, Alix Poisson, Camille Chamoux, Claire Borotra, Joséphine de Meaux and Tiphaine Daviot succeeded in its first two episodes to touch the hearts of viewers.

So much so that many wonder if the journey of these six “chemo friends” is taken from a true story.

A report on an association inspired the idea for the series to its creator

Met a few weeks ago at Series Mania, the producer and co-creator of Les Randonneuses, Fanny Riedberger, explained to us that the characters and their trajectories are fictitious, having been imagined especially for the series. But it was a report on a very real association, and on women who had gone to climb Monte Rosa in Italy, which inspired her with the idea of Les Randonneuses.

“I was listening to the news from afar and at some point I heard the word ‘cancer’ and I approached the TV. Whereas in general I run away from this word”told us the one who is also at the origin of the Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec series.

“I saw a short excerpt from a documentary that spoke of an association that exists, Des Sommets pour bouncer, which allows women who are in remission from cancer to climb, to rebuild themselves through sport, in order to to regain confidence”.

“And seeing these sumptuous images, because it was at Monte Rosa in Italy, I only saw light, smiles, joy, life, a lot of humor, whereas for me it’s was a rather prohibitive subject, which was anxiety-provoking”continues the producer and screenwriter who also worked on En Famille.

“Of course it wasn’t just happy, because the testimonies were quite trying. But I said to myself, ‘We can talk about it like that, with joy, with life, it’s not always cancer that wins”. I understood that it was important to talk about cancer with this tone. These women inspired me”. And the rest, you know it.
