Almost 9 iPhone out of 10 would have adopted the latest version of iOS, a new study by the Mixpanel institute tells us.
Figures which however still remain lower than those of iOS 14 which, in June 2021, was installed on more than 92% of compatible smartphones.
Slower but inevitable adoption
To be completely precise, iOS 15 would have found its way into 87.49% of the iPhones on the market today (iPhone 6S and later). As of the same date last year, iOS 14 was installed on 92.69% of Apple mobiles.
Adoption of the latest version of the operating system is therefore significantly lower than last year. A trend that also emerged very early: 10 days after the launch of iOS 15, less than 20% of compatible devices had made the update.
How to explain this discrepancy? First by the features provided by iOS 15 compared to those of its predecessor – which were more “impressive” or at least more visual with the arrival of widgets. The current version of iOS improves the existing without proposing a break, which does not encourage users to take the plunge.
However, don’t forget that keeping a device up to date also and above all means protecting it against the latest cyber threats. Do not hesitate too long before accepting the update of your smartphone.
