Now allegedly Mel Gibson (65) could take a seat on the director’s chair. According to “The Sun” The Hollywood star is said to have confirmed this last Sunday at an event in London when he talked about thunder.

“The man who directed all of the ‘Lethal’ films, Richard Donner, was a big guy,” Gibson is quoted as saying. “He wrote the script and has come a long way with it. And one day he said to me, ‘Listen, boy, when I die you will go ahead.’ And I said, ‘Shut up,’ “Gibson recalled. When Donner died, the actor initially said nothing. However, Donner told his wife and the production team about his plans. “So I’ll be directing the fifth film,” he said aloud to “The Sun”. There is no official confirmation yet.

Are Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh returning?

Richard Donner had personally confirmed the production of “Lethal Weapon 5” in 2020, even if there was still no finished script. According to “The Sun”, filming is expected to begin in 2022.
