Gabriel Kelly wins “Let’s Dance” and takes the trophy of the 17th season

At the end of a turbulent and exciting finale, it is clear who Dancing Star 2024 is: Gabriel Kelly, 22. Together with professional dancer Malika Dzumaev, 33, the son of Angelo Kelly, 42, gets the highest number of points, the trophy and becomes the successor to Anna Ermakova, 24. During an emotional final show, the three finalists each performed three dances and received a lot of points from the jury – especially for the “Final Freestyles” all three pairings received 30 points! In the end, the viewers and fans decided; Gabriel Kelly can call himself “Dancing Star 2024”. For professional dancer Malika Dzumaev it is the third victory, but the first Dancing Star title – she has already won the Christmas show with Rúrik Gíslason, 36, and the professional challenge with her boyfriend and professional dancer Zsolt Sándor Cseke, 36. Sports reporter Jana Wosnitza, 30, and Vadim Garbuzov, 37, took second place, choreographer Detlef D! Soost, 53, and his dance partner Ekaterina Leonova, 37, came in third.

Gabriel Kelly’s parents think: He and Malika are “a dream couple”

Angelo Kelly and his wife Kira Harms Kelly, 44, are already more than proud of their eldest son Gabriel Kelly. He is the clear favorite to go into the “Let’s Dance” final alongside his dance partner Malika Dzumaev. In recent weeks, the couple has received the highest number of points several times, and ex-“Let’s Dance” stars such as Christina Hänni, 34, and Mark Keller, 59, who was eliminated due to injury, are certain: Gabriel will win.

Nevertheless, it is very important to his parents to canvass for votes with a touching video message on Instagram. Because today, too, Gabriel and Malika need enough viewers to call for them. “We are absolutely thrilled with everything he has learned in such a short time,” enthuses Angelo Kelly and adds: “Thanks to his great dance partner and mentor […].” Then his wife Kira interrupts him and says of her son and Malika: “a dream couple”.

Angelo continues his monologue with the word “madness”, says that the family dog Heidi has also been happy about the many callers so far and emphasizes that it would be great if people would pick up the phone for Gabriel Kelly again this evening.

Christina Hänni criticizes “Let’s Dance”

On Friday night, May 24th, it will be decided who will win the trophy of the 17th season of “Let’s Dance”. Gabriel Kelly, 22, and dance partner Malika Dzumaev, 33, are the clear favorites, as dance professional Christina Hänni, 34, who is currently taking a maternity leave but is still following the show, is sure of that. In the podcast “Don’t worry, be Hänni,” the expectant mother emphasizes that she would be happy for Kelly, Detlef Soost, 53, and Jana Wosnitza, 30, to win, but thinks that Angelo Kelly’s son, 42, “will do it.” But Christina Hänni also criticizes the show.

In the podcast, she denounces the jury for manipulating the audience with their statements. “They’re not doing it on purpose,” “Bunte” quotes Christina as saying. This is made clear by the example of “Let’s Dance” candidate Ann-Kathrin Bendixen, 24: “They said she’s not a worthy semi-finalist. And that’s exactly when the audience feels triggered and has the feeling that now I’m calling them even more.”

This type of unconscious manipulation also comes into play with favorite Gabriel Kelly. “One of the candidates has been praised so highly and named as the winner too often, which I think is a shame,” explains Christina Hänni in the podcast according to “Bunte” and adds: “That’s just it: I have the feeling that the audience is being manipulated.” Whether this effect will also apply in the final and Kelly will really win will be revealed tonight.

Sophia Thiel: Hesitant answer to question about her relationship status

“Let’s Dance” star Sophia Thiel, 29, is definitely not afraid to speak her mind. Even in the often harsh social media environment, she can hold her own and is happy to put her critics to rights. And she can also rely on her quick wit in the RTL question and answer session “Ein Promi, ein Joker”. But then a question almost throws her off track. According to interviewer David Modjarad, 52, the most common Google search in combination with her name is about her relationship status. The 29-year-old initially owes him an answer. Only after Modjarad asks her to answer the question with a clear hand gesture does she laughingly say: “I’m single.”

She revealed during the interview that she had categorically ruled out taking part in “Let’s Dance” for years. But last year she asked herself, “why not?” And lo and behold! Today they are “memories for eternity,” as she writes on Instagram.

Gabriel Kelly and Ann-Kathrin Bendixen are planning a holiday together

After “Let’s Dance,” Gabriel Kelly, 22, and Ann-Kathrin Bendixen, 24, want to embark on another adventure – as a couple. During their time together on the show, the two have become close friends. In her current Instagram story, the influencer also makes it clear that she is behind Kelly’s son and is “particularly keeping her fingers crossed” for him in the finale.

It’s no wonder, then, that the two are also making plans for their time together. They want to travel to India together. The two are to be on tour for a total of three weeks. The 24-year-old spoke to “Bild” about the plans and explained: “I always wanted to go to India anyway. But India is a country that can be quite dangerous in some areas, especially if you’re a woman traveling alone. This way I can travel more safely because I’m not alone and Gabriel can experience his adventure.” She is looking forward to being able to spend time with the 22-year-old and to growing even closer as friends.

Could this cause problems in their respective relationships? Both are in relationships, but their partners are apparently pretty relaxed about it. “I’ve traveled quite often with different people, and it was never a problem, not even for the respective partner,” says Ann-Kathrin Bendixen. After all, the two of them aren’t on the road for ages. It’s still a special feature, because her Instagram profile says “4 years – solo travel,” which implies that she travels alone most of the time. Accompanying a friend is therefore probably more of an exception.

These pairings will take part in the professional challenge

Friday is the day: the final of “Let’s Dance” is about to take place. But the season is not over yet. There will be another professional challenge afterwards. In this, the professionals compete without their protégés and dance once again as if their (dancing) survival were at stake. Now, just before the final, a new development has been announced that is quite something. Because instead of being allowed to perform two dances as usual, this year there are three.

For the first dance, the nine couples can choose their own song and perform an individual routine. In the second round, there will be a set song that all couples must perform to. This is followed by a viewer vote that determines the three best couples. These three couples then compete against each other again in a so-called dance off. Only then can the audience choose the winning couple of the professional challenge by phone in a final vote.

But the effort should be worth it. After all, the pros can secure a clear advantage in the challenge. By winning the pro challenge, they get a “bonus ranking point” that they can redeem in the coming season up to the fourth show. In addition, and we already know this from previous seasons, they can choreograph the opening show, or more precisely the opening of the introductory show. A great opportunity that the pros will certainly put a lot of effort into.

On Instagram, RTL now also reveals the pairings in which the dancers will compete. These are as follows:

  • Vadim Garbuzov and Mariia Maksina
  • Ekaterina Leonova and Paul Lorenz
  • Mika Tatarkin and Kathrin Menzinger
  • Malika Dzumaev and Fabian Täschner
  • Valentin Lusin and Massimo Sinató
  • Zsolt Sándor Cseke and Marta Arndt
  • Andrzej Cibis and Adeline Kastalion
  • Evgeny Vinokurov and Anastasia Stan
  • Alexandru Ionel and Patricia Ionel

Aunt Patricia is sure Gabriel Kelly inherited the dance gene from his grandmother

Gabriel Kelly, 22, danced his way into the final of “Let’s Dance” on Friday. This makes him the second person in the Kelly Family to make it this far in the popular dance show. After his aunt Maite Kelly, 44, who even won “Let’s Dance” in 2011, Gabriel Kelly is now also aiming for victory. Gabriel’s aunt Patricia Kelly, 54, spoke about her successful nephew in an interview with RTL. They are all “mega, mega proud.” Patricia particularly emphasizes his hard work: “He does it so wonderfully. He is down to earth. He is likeable. He works from morning to night. We can’t believe he has made it this far. I’ve never seen him dance before and suddenly he’s a talent out of nowhere.”

But even if Patricia didn’t know about her nephew’s talent beforehand, in the end it doesn’t really surprise her. After all, her sister had already proven that the family genes harbor a certain talent for dancing. Where does it come from? “My mom was a ballerina, a dancer, and all the Kellys did ballet for years. I think that genes may play a role here. And he always did sports, but rather a different kind of sport. But I think it’s the artistic genes in the family,” the 54-year-old sums up.

Both the Kelly family and the audience will find out next Friday whether Gabriel Kelly will win the title of “Dancing Star 2024”. One thing is certain: his family is fully behind Gabriel and regularly exchanges information in a WhatsApp group. “We’re all excited!” With so much family support, nothing can really go wrong.
