Lette (50) died – twice for life after murder and arson

The trial of three Latvians who are said to have knocked down a 50-year-old compatriot in a Linz hotel room in 2020, poured rum over them and set fire to it, went into the final on Thursday. The background to the act is said to have been a dispute within the money laundering gang. Two of the perpetrators got life late on Thursday evening. The judgments are not final.

Life for two defendants (45 and 47 years old) and two years in prison for their accomplice (51) was the verdict in the trial after murder and arson in a Linz hotel. It is not yet final. The jury had a difficult task on Thursday, had to work through a 53-page catalog of questions and deliberated until late in the evening. The defendants, all tough guys with prison experience, denied both arson and murder right up to the end. “Business” in Linz Public defenders Alfred Poferl, Andreas Mauhart and Lukas Urban assumed that the victim had caused the fire himself. The jury couldn’t convince them. The accused trio was “on business” in Linz, wanted to wash money from dubious channels with the victim (50) and another accomplice. An argument broke out in the Mama Muh hotel and the victim was knocked unconscious. In order to cover up the crime, two defendants are said to have set the defenseless on fire.
