Letter to Republicans: Trump bans advertising with his name

Letter to the Republicans
Trump bans advertising with his name

Elections will take place again in the USA next year. The Republican Party is therefore asking for donations – and making ex-President Trump the focus of its advertising. He's not at all enthusiastic.

Former US President Donald Trump has urged three major Republican Party organizations to stop using his name or likeness to raise funds. Corresponding letters were sent to the national committee of the party (RNC) and two groups involved in the congressional elections, said a Trump adviser. The ex-president is angry that the groups are supporting Republican MPs who have voted for his impeachment along with the Democrats.

The American politics portal "Politico" had previously reported on the process. Accordingly, the RNC asked the Republican base for donations in two emails on Friday. In this way, she could immortalize her name on an "official thank you greeting card" for Trump, it said in the first letter to the electorate. "The president will always stand up for the American people." This is the "perfect way" to say thank you for it. A few hours later, the second email stated that the offer would expire in ten hours.

The donations are to be used for the congressional election campaign in the coming year. On November 8, 2022, all members of the US House of Representatives and 34 of the total of 100 senators will stand for re-election. According to "Politico", Trump is very "sensitive" to the question of what advertising purposes his name is used for. The ex-president himself collects donations through his organization "Save America" to support selected Republicans in the coming year.

According to "Politico", the Republican Party has not given an official statement on the demand. Unofficially, it is said that it is "impossible" to meet because Trump is so popular with the party base. If Trump really wants to help retake Congress, he has to be "more generous".
