Levi's launches Unlabeled, its very first unisex collection

On the occasion of the Coming National Out Day which took place this Sunday, October 11, Levi's exclusively unveiled a collection of non-gendered pieces. A great first for the famous American brand!

Pink and dresses for girls, blue and sneakers for boys? All that is over! Fashion now frees itself from the sexes and puts an end to this man-woman distinction that we have known for decades. The trend is towards gender fluidity and more and more brands are deciding to advocate "gender fluid". This identity includes any gender identity. Thus, we can go from man to woman, but also from woman to androgyne, man to agenre, being in between, etc. To embrace this multitude of identities, Levi's has decided to launch Unlabeled, a "genderless" collection – in other words unisex – which celebrates individuality and freedom of personal expression.

Unlabeled, a collective before being a collection

Created in Europe less than 2 years ago, Unlabeled is above all a collective made up of LGBTQ + people and employees of the Levi's group. "The Unlabeled group brings together employees from the LGBTQ + community (but not only) in order to learn how to become better allies, but also to develop inclusion internally and in the recruitment process, or to encourage company and its employees to get involved locally with associations fighting for the LGBTQ + cause", confides Mathilde Vaucheret, South Cluster Marketing Director.

The brand hopes to inspire creativity, diversity and freedom of expression in all its employees, colleagues and consumers.

"The main objective of this group of employees is to support the LGBTQ + community within the company by initiating various actions. The latest is the creation of the Unlabeled collection: a non-gendered collection", she continues. And this is a great first for the American brand which has a tradition of celebrating diversity in all its forms. Inspired by the unisex side of jeans, the Unlabeled collective thus wished to highlight the existing collections. from a new perspective.

"From a classic 501® to a Trucker jacket, each piece has been carefully chosen to create a collection that inspires individuality and authentic self-expression in everyone where gender does not exist", tells us Mathilde Vaucheret. To sum up: it is a collection which does not distinguish between gender, which highlights the individual style and the creative vision of each. In addition, for the first time, a" Genderless "will be inaugurated on the brand's official website to celebrate this capsule.

Advancing the inclusion of LGBTQ + people

With Unlabeled, Levi's thus wishes to promote and advance the inclusion of LGBTQ + people in the fashion world but also in the corporate world. "This requires education, communication, visibility through internal and external initiatives. Recent statistics also confirm that the percentage of LGBTQ + people in the workplace in France has increased from 54% in 2018 to 43% today *, which is very worrying and which proves that initiatives like this one these are still important", notes Mathilde. The release of this gender-neutral collection is a great initiative on the part of Levi's, and we can only approve and admire it!
