LG Display plans to produce 27 and 32 inch Oled panels

The South Korean news site Hankooki indicated that LG Display is looking to expand its range of Oled panels for small TVs and monitors. 27-inch screens will arrive in the first quarter of 2023, followed by 32-inch OLED panels. Both models are aimed at the TV and gaming cross-market.

LG Electronics already sells 27 and 31.5 inch Ultra Fine OLED Pro screens, but these use OLED panels produced by JOLED (Japan-Oled). However, the Japanese manufacturer uses a different manufacturing system, based on inkjet printing, to produce its OLED panels, which some say is more suitable for smaller screens. LG Display would use its production technique using masks to produce these 27 and 32 inch OLED panels. It must be said that after having reduced the size of the latter to 48 inches in 2021 and 42 inches this year, nothing prevents LG from going down further in size while optimizing production.

There are few details available on the production capacities of these 27 and 32 inch Oled panels, but they will undoubtedly be more affordable than those produced by JOLED. The LG 32EP950 monitor, with its 32-inch Ultra HD panel, is sold for around €2,500, while a 42-inch Oled LG 42C2 TV sells for less than €1,000. We quickly understand that the arrival of Oled panels from LG Display could make monitors of this type much more affordable. Samsung Display has already shown the way with its 34-inch QD-Oled panel, embedded in monitors sold for less than €1,400, such as the Alienware AW3423DW and soon even cheaper with the Alienware AW3423DWF.

On the other side of the spectrum, LG Display now offers 97-inch, or 246 cm, Oled panels on the LG 97G2 television announced for around €25,000, five times more expensive than the 83-inch LG 83C2 sold for less than €5000. If there are new 27- and 32-inch Oled products, we should discover them at CES 2023, which will take place like every year in Las Vegas at the beginning of January.
