LG is a major player in the household appliances sector in France. And yet, until now, the Korean was very discreet in the field of cooking since its area of expertise was more or less limited to microwave ovens, on the French market at least. Good news, the manufacturer has just lifted the veil on a trio of built-in ovens; the WS7D7651CS (Good), the WS9D7673CB (Better) and a last one with a still unknown code name, but whose qualifier will obviously be Best.

These three new references have many elements in common, including electronic temperature adjustment. In addition, they all use pulsed heat: at the bottom of the cavity, an annular resistance surrounds a fan responsible for distributing the heat within the enclosure. The latter is also of a more than comfortable volume since it reaches 76 liters. Apart from the classic cooking modes, the new LG ovens all benefit from an Air Fry mode, and we also find on each of them the connection to a smartphone (or tablet) equipped with the ThinQ application to program the remote oven, download recipes, monitor electricity consumption or consult instructions online. Finally, the Good, Better and Best ovens have the Instaview functionality: simply knock twice on the door for it to become transparent and reveal what is cooking in the cavity. This technology is not new since it already exists on certain refrigerators from the manufacturer.

The WS7D7651CS (Good) represents the entry level of this new range. It has 15 cooking modes (natural convection, pulsed heat, etc.) and can raise the temperature up to 300°C, which is not so common in the small world of built-in ovens. The manufacturer has thought of kitchen novices and has provided a cooking assistant offering 32 preparations. Be careful, the electronic segment display which equips the WS7D7651CS may complicate the use of this famous assistant, since the inscriptions will not be as readable as on a screen worthy of the name.

Note that the rest of the controls consist of a wheel and sensitive keys. As we have said, the enclosure has a volume of 76 liters and five storage levels are provided; none of them is equipped with telescopic rails and the thermometric probe is also absent.

The WS9D7673CB (Better) abandons the wheel and the display for a real touch screen, which should facilitate the use of the cooking assistant, this time with 34 recipes. The cooking modes are more numerous, since there are 22 on this model. And for good reason, steam appears; it is not a question of 100% steam cooking like that which can be achieved with an oven like the Miele DG 2840, but rather of improving certain cooking methods, by preserving the tenderness of meats in particular.

Steam is also useful for making dough rise or to facilitate the creation of a crust on bread (Steam Assist technology). Just like some Siemens ovens equipped with such technology before it (like the iQ700 HN678G4S1F), the 1 liter water tank is located behind the control panel which pivots to provide access, in an effect of the most successful.

The upgrade also includes the addition of telescopic rails in the cavity to safely handle heavy and/or bulky dishes.

Finally, the WS9D7693CM Best oven is very similar to the Better appliances. The main difference lies in the presence of real cooking programs dedicated to steam: convection heat and steam, steam roasting, steam pastry. Of course, a special dish is provided to take advantage of this cooking method.

The WS7D7651CS (Good) and the WS9D7673CB (Better) are already available at the respective prices of €799 and €1199. The WS9D7693CM (Best), for its part, must arrive before June and you will have to shed €1,499 to afford it.
