Remote connectors for wireless transmission. This is the concept, not totally unknown, of the LG OLED M3.

A 97-inch television that works wirelessly, or almost since it is always necessary to connect it to a mains socket.

A wireless TV powered by Zero Connect technology

Despite a series of announcements earlier in the week that covered the LG A3, B3, C3, G3 and Z3 ranges, LG still had one benchmark to pull out of its hat with the LG OLED M3.

This brand new range, whose presentation and launch have been postponed for two years due to the health crisis, will have three references with the LG OLED77M3, LG OLED83M3 and LG OLED97M3. At present, only the last reference has been formalized and briefly presented during the Korean manufacturer’s press conference which took place this afternoon.

The M3 series will be similar to the G3 series already unveiled, except that it will transmit audio and video signals through a process that does not require connecting any cables to the TV. Like Samsung, LG will offer a box to deport all these connectors, only this box will ensure wireless transmission thanks to a technology that the manufacturer calls Zero Connect. If we are to believe the visuals provided by LG, the case is relatively thick. This would, however, use an algorithm allowing the signals to take the best possible path in order to ensure a smooth and seamless transmission.

Three references without MLA

Last big difference between the M3 series and the G3: the MLA. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s an acronym for Micro Lens Array. In short, MLA is a micro lens technology added to the OLED panel allowing the televisions concerned to offer a much larger peak of light. LG is indeed announcing a gain of around 70% compared to last year’s OLED Evo televisions, with a light peak of up to 1,800 cd/m².

The G3 range will be equipped, in part, with this MLA technology. In part, because in the end only the model with the diagonal of 77 inches offers it, it will therefore be absent from the 83 and 97 inch references. The second difference between the G3 and M3 ranges should therefore be found here: the M3 series will not offer the MLA on any of its references.

For the time being, the price and availability of these televisions remain unknown.
