LG SC9 and SE6: two Dolby Atmos soundbars that rely on the WOW Orchestra

As usual, the South Korean LG is not waiting for the kick-off of CES in Las Vegas (January 5 to 8, 2023) to present some of its new products. This year, it’s its catalog of soundbars that is making headlines before the hour, with the introduction of the SC9 and SE6 models (the most compact). Two Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundbars that we will obviously come across in the aisles of the American living room, but which are already talking about them.

First – and main – specificity highlighted by the manufacturer: the compatibility of these two products with the WOW Orchestra technology. What is it ? It is simply the possibility of coupling the sound reproduction of these sound bars to that of the speakers of an LG television to which they will be connected, so as to improve the sound experience in terms of immersion. . Which is reminiscent of the Q Symphony of a certain Samsung.

Optimizations at all levels

To better enjoy it, it will also be possible to activate the Smart-Up Mixer on these two sound bars. A barbaric name which hides a function of emulation of a stereo audio signal in surround signal. The kind of technologies which can, of course, bring a gain of immersion but which we have learned to be wary of by experience. In the same way, we will wait to judge what the Triple Sound Optimizer will really bring, a feature put forward by LG without further details.

The WOW Cast is, for its part, easier to analyze since it will simply be the possibility of connecting these sound bars to a compatible LG television wirelessly (wifi). While the AI Sound Pro promises to instantly adapt the sound output of the installation to the type of content being viewed, be it a movie, a TV show, a concert or a sports broadcast.

Players will be reassured to know that the LG SC9 and SE6 will both be compatible with VRR and ALLM. They will therefore ensure a perfect HDMI link for the latest generation consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and other Xbox Series X.

Too few details at the moment

On the acoustic construction side, very few details have leaked out so far, except that these two soundbars have three upward-firing speakers for Atmos and Surround effects, and take advantage of four passive radiators for deliver deep bass. It is not known if these two models will come with a subwoofer or if it will be offered as an option, or if other sets of speakers will be compatible to complete the installation. To find out, you will probably have to wait for LG’s conference at CES 2023. It will be held on the night of January 5.
