LG Ultragear 45GR95QE: a 45-inch 240 Hz Oled monitor for gamers

The LG Ultragear 45GR95QE is a 45-inch OLED monitor displaying a definition of 3440 x 1440 px dedicated to video games. It benefits from a refresh rate of 240 Hz and an unparalleled afterglow time of 0.1 ms.

Not content to equip Corsair’s flexible monitor, the 45-inch Oled LG Display panel is also integrated into the new LG Ultragear 45GR95QE monitor. This 45-inch Oled panel displays a UWQHD definition of 3440 x 1440 px, supports a refresh rate of 240 Hz and sees its response time drop to just 0.1 ms (like all Oled screens).

The slab is very curved, over a radius of only 80 cm, for total immersion. This radius of curvature is in contradiction with the resolution of 83 pixels per inch which requires that we be at least 1.2 meters from the monitor to enjoy it properly. The panel supports AdaptiveSync and FreeSync between 48 and 240 Hz, in addition to LFC (Low Frame Compensation) which doubles or even triples the number of images between 20 and 48 Hz. The viewing angles are of course 178 ° and the anti-reflective treatment looks effective. LG does not specify whether it is a matte or semi-gloss panel. Like the other LG Display panels, it covers almost the entire DCI-P3 color space (98.5%), displays infinite contrast and boasts a peak brightness close to 1000 cd / m² (which remains to be checked).

In terms of connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone output supporting DTS:X. The foot is adjustable in height over 11 cm, in inclination (-2°/+15°), and also manages rotation over ±10°. The monitor does not have a speaker. The LG Ultragear 45GR95QE also features Picture-In-Picture (PIP) and Picture-By-Picture (PBP) modes for displaying multiple sources on the screen simultaneously.

The LG Ultragear 45GR95QE monitor won’t be released until early next year and its pricing is still unknown. The only monitor equipped with an Oled panel produced by LG Display is the Gigabyte Aorus FO48U (Oled 48-inch Ultra HD), sold for around €1,200. The LG UltraGear 48GQ900, announced in March and equipped with the same panel, is still long overdue, as are the Asus PG42UQ and PG48UQ and the MSI MEG551U. On the other hand, the LG 48C1 TV is currently selling for just under €1000. We can reasonably think that the LG Ultragear 45GR95QE will be less than 1500 €, in particular to compete with the QD-Oled Alienware AW3423DW monitor displayed at 1300 €.
