Lhyfe has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Norwegian Horisont Energi (HE). The two companies, specializing respectively in the production and distribution of green hydrogen, and in energy and carbon transport and storage services, have a common objective. That of developing, in Europe, green ammonia production plants supplied by Lhyfe’s green hydrogen plants, and supplying the ammonia market for the maritime sector in Norway.

A growing European demand

This project is part of the objective of meeting the growing demand for ammonia in Europe. Moreover, this is not Horisont Energi’s first collaboration: it has already concluded a cooperation agreement with Equinor and Vår Energi in order to develop “Barents Blue”, the first blue ammonia production plant in Norway. A memorandum of understanding with the port of Amsterdam has also been signed, to set up a transport corridor, which would allow this ammonia to be transported from Norway to Rotterdam.

The agreement between the two companies will help them to develop ” jointly in the field of green ammonia in Europe », explains Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen, CEO of HE. With the aim of developing green ammonia plants on an industrial scale, HE and Lhyfe will also jointly seek new strategic positions in the European renewable energy sector.
