LHYFE: Lhyfe obtains a grant of around 11 M EUR from Klimatklivet for its green hydrogen project in Trelleborg, Sweden – 06/24/2024 at 07:30

  • First grant obtained by Lhyfe for one of its projects in Sweden

  • The 10 MW production plant will supply up to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen per day to local customers in the mobility and industrial sectors

  • Lhyfe is one of the pioneers of green hydrogen production in Europe, with 4 installed production sites and several sites under construction

Nantes (France), Stockholm (Sweden), June 24, 2024, 7:30 a.m. –

Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), one of the global pioneers in the production of green and renewable hydrogen, announces the receipt of a grant of up to 125.6 million Swedish crowns (approximately €11 million) from Klimatklivet, an investment program supported by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, to build a green hydrogen production unit in Trelleborg, the southernmost town in Sweden.

The Trelleborg region is a transport hub, with the largest ro-ro port in Scandinavia through which 10% of Swedish exports and imports pass each year (source: Port of Trelleborg).

As transportation and logistics companies look to replace their fleets with less polluting vehicles, such as hydrogen-powered electric vehicles

this transition will require large quantities of green hydrogen to power hydrogen refueling stations under construction in the region and thus build a sustainable network for carbon-free mobility.

Thanks to this plant, Lhyfe will be able to produce up to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen per day (based on an installed electrolysis capacity of 10 MW) to supply these needs and thus contribute to the efforts deployed towards to achieve carbon neutrality. The first kilos of green hydrogen are expected in 2027.

The grant, which will finance the development and design phases, supply of equipment and construction works, represents approximately 40% of the total estimated investment for this project.

Lhyfe is one of the world pioneers in the production of green and renewable hydrogen by water electrolysis, from units powered by renewable electricity.

half-year 2021, and three other units have since been inaugurated in the Occitanie and Brittany regions as well as in Germany. Several other sites are under construction or expansion across Europe. At the end of 2023, Lhyfe had 195 employees entirely dedicated to the production of green hydrogen, with projects in 12 countries and a project pipeline of around 10 GW in Europe.

“We are very pleased to have obtained this grant, which is the first obtained by Lhyfe for one of its projects in Sweden. We see it as a clear reward for our efforts and recognition of our expertise in the production and delivery of green hydrogen to multiple customers over the past two years.

It is also proof that we are moving in the right direction in Sweden. We also want to reiterate our support for the Swedish government’s environmental roadmap and welcome the fact that Sweden is focusing on the rapid expansion of a hydrogen infrastructure based on renewable energy. This project will help provide green hydrogen for mobility in southern Sweden. It will support our goal of increasing the penetration of green hydrogen across the country, both for mobility and industry.”
