LHYFE: Lhyfe partner of the Hy’Touraine project aimed at building a renewable hydrogen production site – Its partner Teréga Solutions will operate various distribution infrastructures in Touraine – 06/30/2023 at 07:30

  • First local and comprehensive public-private ecosystem around renewable hydrogen for the decarbonization of heavy mobility and industry

  • Winner of the ADEME’s “territorial hydrogen ecosystems” call for projects, which supports the Hy’Touraine project with €3.4 million

  • Up to 2 tons of H production

per day targeted in the long term according to needs (i.e. an installed capacity of 5 MW), powered by renewable energies supplied locally by the SIEIL (Syndicat Intercommunal d’Energie d’Indre et Loire) and EnER Center Val de Loire

  • Many local authorities (Tours Métropole Val de Loire, Touraine Vallée de l’Indre Community of Communes, Touraine Departmental Council, etc.) and companies, including STMicroelectronics Tours, already identified as having hydrogen needs in the territory

Nantes (France), June 30, 2023 – 7:30 a.m. –

Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), one of the world’s pioneers in the production of green and renewable hydrogen, is pleased to announce its commitment to the Hy’Touraine project, 1

and STMicroelectronics Tours, this project – serving the decarbonization of heavy mobility and industry – involves the construction, by Lhyfe, of the green and renewable hydrogen production site, while Teréga Solutions will operate the distribution infrastructure. Innovative and ambitious, the Hy’Touraine project, supported by ADEME to the tune of €3.4 million for the gradual deployment of infrastructure, aims to produce up to 2 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per day.

A strategic area and a modular project designed to grow and welcome new partners

Located at the exit of the A10 motorway, on a strategic axis, the Isoparc business park in Sorigny was selected for the location of the future renewable hydrogen production plant. Since 2019, it has already hosted the first hydrogen distribution station in the Center Region.

The site will host the first hydrogen production unit powered by renewable energies supplied or produced by the SIEIL (Syndicat Intercommunal d’Energie d’Indre et Loire) and EnER Center Val de Loire.

It will be flexible and modular, in order to be able to develop and integrate the future needs and requirements of the ecosystem, and will be able to produce up to 2 tons of H

2

per day as needed (i.e. an installed capacity of 5 MW).

It will be used to meet industrial needs on the one hand and mobility uses on the other via two distribution stations. Many communities (Tours Métropole Val de Loire, Touraine Vallée de l’Indre Community of Communes, Touraine Departmental Council, etc.) and public and private companies (including STMicroelectronics Tours) with hydrogen needs have been identified and have states their wish to opt for the development of this solution in the service of the decarbonization of heavy transport and industry on their territory. On the industry side, the use of this locally produced renewable hydrogen could support the industrial development of STMicroelectronics Tours on GaN technology (gallium nitride) which requires the use of hydrogen for its production and would thus contribute to the ambition of the STMicroelectronics Group to achieve carbon neutrality by 2027. The commitment of STMicroelectronics Tours supports the economic development of the territory by thus offering an immediate commercial outlet to Hy’Touraine.

The Hy’Touraine project is the winner of the ADEME’s “territorial hydrogen ecosystems” call for projects, which will support the project with €3.4 million for the gradual deployment of its infrastructures and the acquisition of uses, such as the household waste dumpsters of the Métropole (Tours Métropole Val de Loire).
