(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission announces that it has authorized the acquisition of UPC Polska – a subsidiary of Liberty Global based in Poland – by Iliad.
UPC Polska is a telecommunications company that provides fixed telephony, television and mobile telephony services, while Iliad, a subsidiary of the Xavier Niel group, is active in the Polish mobile telephony, fixed internet and pay television through its subsidiary P4 sp. zoo(‘P4’).
The Commission concluded that the acquisition did not raise ‘competition concerns’, given that the transaction gives rise to minor horizontal overlaps and that the vertical overlaps do not lead to the risk of foreclosure of access to the wholesale mobile network market.
