Lidl & Aldi are test winners: The best prepaid offers at a glance

Prepaid tariffs are a good alternative for all those who do not want to be tied to long contract terms and simply want to keep an overview of the costs. With a prepaid contract, you can only use as much as you previously loaded onto the card.

However, it is not that easy to find the right tariff, especially since the offer is huge. We have taken a closer look at 23 prepaid providers for you. In addition to discounters such as Lidl, Aldi and Penny, we also checked the offers from O2, Telekom, Vodafone and Co.

The result: The discounter offers far outperform the well-known mobile phone brands in the ranking. In addition to the costs as the most important criterion, the features of the tariffs, the costs of the providers as well as the service and the network quality are also included in the overall rating.

With the overall rating “very good” (grade 1.35) secures itself Lidl Connect first place with the Smart S tariff (Vodafone). A discounter giant also follows in second place: Aldi talk (O2) is only just behind Lidl with the rating “very good” (grade 1.37) for the combination package S.

Overall, the discounter and supermarket offers fare significantly better than the own tariffs from O2, Vodafone and Telekom. However, one retailer is particularly out of line here: Fyve takes last place in the ranking with the Smart L. Above all, the high costs and the poor service are decisive for the bad placement. In the cost subcategory, for example, the tariff scored a grade of 4.7, and in terms of service only a grade of 4.8.

In the following table, we show you not only the test winner and price tip, but also the provider with the best network quality and strong alternatives. You can read the detailed comparison here.
