Lidl pulls the emergency brake: these foods are now being rationed

Because of the war in Ukraine, many people are apparently afraid of supply bottlenecks for certain items. The food is therefore hoarded in large numbers. Lidl now wants to put a stop to that.

At the request of “Echo24”, the discounter said: “Since certain product groups, such as cooking oil and canned goods, are currently in very high demand, we only sell these products in all branches in normal household quantities.”

However, customers do not currently have to be afraid of empty shelves, as Lidl reports: “The supply of goods in the branches of our retail divisions is fundamentally guaranteed.” We are in close contact with the suppliers and logistics service providers in order to be able to continue to guarantee the availability of goods.

It is therefore quite possible that individual items are out of stock for a short time. In principle, however, there are enough goods available so that all consumers can be supplied.
