Scratches in the expensive wooden floor are annoying, but they can also be removed quickly. These home remedies will help.

Everyone knows it: every now and then something falls down, splinters on the floor and scratches are immediately visible in the high-quality wooden floor. However, a specialist is not required to repair the damage. These home remedies make the parquet look like new again.

The precaution

Parquet is sensitive. Even the brush on the vacuum cleaner can damage the floor. A broom with soft bristles is more suitable for cleaning. The subsequent wiping should only be done with a little water, otherwise water stains will remain. Home remedies can help with cleaning: if sealed parquet is wiped with black tea, it shines particularly beautifully afterwards. If the planks are unsealed instead, they should be oiled and waxed twice a year, then the floor is more resistant and sanding marks or holes do not appear as quickly. However, do not use household oils for this purpose, as they do not offer optimal protection.

Small scratches

Vegetable oils may not be suitable for annual oiling, but they work wonders on small areas: Simply apply a little oil and rub in with a cloth. But be careful: olive oil can rub off. Alternatively, walnuts are helpful. The nut gives off a natural fat. Simply remove the shell and rub the contents over the scratch. However, walnuts also rub off. So when using this home remedy, make sure that the bottom roughly matches the color of the walnut.

The iron trick against dents and pressure points

It doesn’t always work perfectly, but it can always be tried out: the iron trick. It can mainly be used for dents and pressure points. In the case of sealed parquet, the affected area must first be sanded off. Then fill the dent with water and hold the hot iron over the spot so that the wood expands and, in the best case, the dent disappears. Important: Be careful with this trick! The iron should not be too hot and especially not too long on the affected area. If you do not trust yourself to handle the household appliance, you should rather call a specialist in this case.
