Lifestyle must-haves: The coolest innovations in February

What sophisticated lifestyle gadgets do people really need? The GALA editorial team takes on the new products and tests the most promising lifestyle innovations every month. In February we are excited about a Louis Vuitton book, a set of knives, coffee, a mattress and vegan oven bread.

We are constantly being told about new devices that are supposed to revolutionize our lives. But which lifestyle innovations really make sense? The GALA editorial team helps you keep track of things in the fitness, health and lifestyle sectors and presents useful products every month. Our lifestyle must-haves are rated according to use, handling and effect.

In February we again tested great new products.

Meatless happy

Product: Wagner Vegan Rustipani “Mushroom Trio”

Price: about 2 euros for 185 grams

To use: Delicious oven bread, but without any animal ingredients, artificial flavors or colorings.

Use: The baking time for Rustipani is 14-16 minutes at 200° top and bottom heat and 13-15 minutes at 180° convection.

Conclusion: I’ve been a vegetarian for about ten years, I’m getting closer and closer to vegan and avoid it where I can. In the past, pizza wasn’t exactly my favorite meal: As a veggie, you really only had a choice between margherita, margherita with pesto or margherita with rocket. Boring! The selection is now huge, even with the completely vegan variants. Here the mushrooms go perfectly with the creamy, spicy sauce and the hearty bread. I don’t miss real cheese here.

Good night!

Lifestyle must-have mattress

Product: Bed 1 “Bodyguard” mattress

Price: from 199 euros (depending on size)

To use: The “Bodyguard” is an anti-cartel mattress with two different degrees of firmness: medium firm and firm. It is therefore suitable for different or changing sleeping needs.

Use: The mattress is delivered rolled up and can be used just a few minutes after unpacking. It is best to air it out for the first few hours so that the smell dissipates, but otherwise the “Bodyguard” is in shape almost immediately and ready to be put in. Which side is the firm and which is the medium firm is clearly marked – the one you want to sleep on must logically be on top.

Conclusion: In general, I’m not particularly sensitive or demanding when it comes to mattresses, at least I’ve never had any problems when I’ve been traveling or staying somewhere. I mostly sleep on my stomach and prefer firm pillows. I tested the medium-strength side of the “Bodyguard” first and got used to it very quickly. In fact, after a night or two I found it to be above average and comfortable, just because of the mattress I was even more excited to go to bed than usual. The medium-firm side is perfect for me, I like to sleep on it, it’s good and I feel safe. For testing purposes, I turned the mattress over for one night and tried the firm side – but that is not at all suitable for me and my body. I slept restlessly and the next morning, for the first time in my life, I had back pain from lying down (tension in the central back area, especially on the sides). Maybe that would settle down after a while if the mattress sagged a bit (and sagged), but I didn’t pursue it for the time being and am now sleeping on the medium-firm side again. And on it I have a really high level of sleeping comfort and sweet dreams.

Product: Louis Vuitton Manufactures Coffee Table Book

Price: about 95 euros

To use: Louis Vuitton Manufactures is an exclusive publication that sheds light on the luxury label’s workshops and the people behind the craftsmanship. This coffee table book not only looks good on the coffee table, but also convinces in terms of content.

Contents: The book features exclusive photographs commissioned by the company that provide a glimpse into the world of production and show how Louis Vuitton’s extraordinary creations are made.

Conclusion: Personally, I love owning books that I like to pull out again and again – whether for simple entertainment or because I’m looking for inspiration. I have always been fascinated by the craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton and this exclusive look into ateliers around the world never ceases to fascinate me. Every time I look at the book, I encounter new details. Also a perfect gift for anyone interested in craftsmanship and the iconic Louis Vuitton brand.

Product: Swiss Modern knife block from Victorinox

Price: 275 euros to 500 euros, depending on the version

To use: The noble knife block from Victorinox is a real one design classic. As the winner of Red dot With its high-quality appearance, it gives every kitchen an ultra-modern touch.

Look: The knife block comes with five knives and a fork. My choice fell on the block made of lacquered beech wood and matching knives with walnut handles. The combination of the noble anthracite color and the warm shade of brown ensures a high-quality and timeless look.

Conclusion: The product not only impresses with its appearance, but also with its application convince the knife. The blades are sharp and easy to hold. And let’s be honest, with a selection of five different knives, every hobby cook really gets excited.

product: Blaek Instant Coffee

Price: from 4.99 euros for 6 sachets, 11.50 euros for a glass jar.

To use: Coffee like from the barista, but without a portafilter, grinder and hip coffee shop – just to pour? Blaek sounds almost too good to be true: specialty coffee in instant form.

Use: We recommend 1.5 g of Blaek instant coffee for 100 ml of water – so for a cup of coffee you either take two spoons or a pre-portioned paper bag and simply pour hot water over it. There are four flavors to choose from – Peru, Colombia, Dark and Decaf – with flavors such as fresh berries, milk chocolate and cocoa.

Conclusion: The good news: Blaek is instant coffee’s salvation and tastes better than you’d expect. But: in order to get the taste complexity of real specialty coffee, you have to invest a little more work. But if you want delicious coffee that is easy to prepare, you can go here with a clear conscience and enjoy Blaek.
