In a boosted Vélodrome stadium, celebrating the 30th anniversary of OM’s victory in the Champions League with a sublime four-stroke tifo, the Marseillais showed a pale face against Brest (1-2). Purring with the ball, the players of Igor Tudor broke their teeth on a Breton compact block, well in place, which never really doubted. And, on a new offensive transition, the native of Marseille Hugo Magnetti opened the scoring with a long shot (57th), countered by Chancel Mbemba, who caught up well from a corner (75th). At the end of the match, Mahdi Camara took advantage of a deflection at the near post from Pierre Lees-Melou to snatch victory (81st), in front of the dumbfounded gaze of Alexis Sanchez. In the standings, OM will end this 2022/2023 Ligue 1 exercise in third place with 73 units on the clock. For its part, Brest occupies 14th place in the championship with 44 units. Next week, the Phocaeans will try to find the way to success against Ajaccio while the Bretons will want to continue against Rennes.
