Ligue 1: “We don’t touch Messi”, gets carried away Kombouaré

“We don’t touch Messi”: Antoine Kombouaré, former player and coach of PSG, got angry on Friday against the “lynching” of Lionel Messi, the subject of disciplinary proceedings within the Parisian club.

“I don’t care what happens on the pitch, PSG’s problems. I’m in love with the player. We don’t touch Messi, whatever he does,” insisted the Nantes coach, asked about the Argentine star at a press conference in Nantes. “Today we are falling on a guy, it’s shameful (…). If he leaves, I’m super happy, we don’t deserve it”, he insisted.

Disciplinary proceedings opened against Messi

PSG on Tuesday opened disciplinary proceedings against Messi, who will be suspended for several days after a trip to Saudi Arabia made without the agreement of his club and whose two seasons in Paris are looking like failures. Stating that the management of Messi’s getaway was not his responsibility, Kombouaré mainly brushed off criticism of Messi’s performance on the pitch.

“If I had Messi, I would say to him: ‘you stay in front, you never run, you never defend. On the other hand, we give you the balls and I want to see you play, have fun, shine’ But that’s my opinion as a fan of the game,” he explained.
