Like A Dragon Ishin: If the remake finally comes out with us, it’s a bit thanks to Ghost of Tsushima

To regain Yakuza Ishin in an updated version was already good news, but it’s even better when you know that this episode will arrive for the first time in the West thanks to this. Announced during the last State of Play, Like A Dragon: Ishin created the surprise and shows once again that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio now has greater ambitions, and that it is no longer limited to the borders of Japan. And if this particular episode is opening up to the world now, it’s for several reasons, one of which concerns Ghost of Tsushima.

A success that moved the lines

This is Masayoshi Yokoyama, who is the head of the studio, who declares this at Fanbyte. It indicates that the success of Yakuza: Like A Dragon in the West was obviously decisive in the choice to bring this remake outside of Japan, but not only. Western public appeal for Ghost of Tsushima also followed up on ideas at the studio:

We saw how well Ghost of Tsushima did, and it was a very Japanese setting made by Americans, which gave us confidence that Ishin could do well in the US too. ยป

The success of Sucker Punch will therefore have been beneficial to others, and it is certainly not the fans of Yakuza / Like A Dragon who will complain.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! will be released on February 21, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
