Like Tesla, Xiaomi is working on a humanoid robot: here is the CyberOne

Xiaomi is very proud of the progress made by its robotics laboratory which designed the CyberOne, an “intelligent” humanoid robot.

After the CyberDog, its robot dog presented last year, Xiaomi unveiled the CyberOne, which is none other than a bipedal humanoid robot. The Chinese brand thus intends to demonstrate its skills in robotics, responding in a certain way to Tesla, whose Optimus could land in 2023.

If we trust the first steps of the CyberOne, Xiaomi is not yet to offer a robot as agile as Atlas, the acrobat robot from Boston Dymamics. The brand is well aware of this and insists above all on another point: its ability to interact with humans and to “understanding their needs and emotions”.

Prowess designed in Xiaomi’s artificial intelligence laboratories, says the group’s CEO, Lei Jun, who says he has “hugely invested in R&D and innovation, from software to hardware, without forgetting algorithms” to set up his CyberOne, 1.77 m high and 52 kg of electronics.

social intelligence

According to Xiaomi, this robot constantly analyzes its environment in 3D, recognizes people familiar to it, analyzes their body language and facial expressions, recognizes nearly a hundred different noises and knows – by listening to their voice – if its interlocutors are happy, sad or impatient… As a result of which the CyberOne would be able to adapt its own behavior.

Will the future be made up of intelligent robot companions? Some companies like Xiaomi seem to think so, while others already deplore a society that has been largely dehumanized with the help of automatons and other computer programs.
