Lilo & Stitch: cast for the new live-action Disney movie has been announced

• After numerous other animated films, “Lilo & Stitch” is now being adapted into a live action film.
• Filming started in May 2023.
• The cast for the Disney film has now been announced.

Ohana means family, and that’s where they’ll soon be returning as Disney brings the adventures of “Lilo and Stitch” to life in a new live-action adaptation. As early as 2018, the company announced that it would bring the special friendship between the Hawaiian Lilo and the alien Stitch back to the big screen. Filming began in May 2023.

Lilo & Stitch: Launch

There is currently no official start date for “Lilo & Stitch”. However, filming began in May 2023, which is why we are starting in 2024 can count. Meanwhile, Disney has confirmed that the “Lilo & Stitch” remake will not be released in cinemas, but directly in the stream on Disney +.

Lilo & Stitch: Storyline

“Lilo & Stitch” tells the story of the headstrong girl Lilo, who lives with her big sister in Hawaii after the death of her parents. Lilo is not particularly popular with the other children and often gets into trouble because of this.

When her sister Nani allows her to adopt a dog from the animal shelter, she decides to adopt the odd-looking Stitch – not realizing that he is the work of a mad alien scientist. Experiment 626 aka Stitch was supposed to be sent to a penal colony, but managed to escape to Earth and has been hunted down ever since.

Lilo & Stitch: Cast

Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as young Lilo in “Lilo & Stitch.” The original English voice of Stitch, Chris Sanders, will also lend his voice to the alien in the live-action adaptation.

Other roles will include Sydney Agudong (“Navy CIS”) as Nani, Billy Magnussen (“James Bond 007: No Time To Die”) as Agent Pliiklii, Zach Galifianakis (“The Beanie Bubble”) as Dr. Jamba Jookiba, Amy Hill (“Magnum PI”) as Tūtū, Kaipo Dudoit (“My Partner”) as David Kawena, Courtney B. Vance (“61st Street”) as Cobra Bobo and the original voice of Nani, Tia Carrere (“Nor never in my life…”), who stars as Mrs. Kekoa.

Lilo & Stitch: Production

“Lilo & Stitch” is directed by director Dean Fleischer Camp (“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”). The film’s story was written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and the screenplay was adapted by Mike Van Waes. The original characters are by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois.

Lilo and Stitch want to ride the wave of success

With “Lilo & Stitch”, Disney is once again bringing a live-action adaptation of a popular animated film to the starting line. In recent years, not all of these films have been completely convincing, but they are mostly produced with great care. That’s why the stars are good for “Lilo & Stitch”, because thanks to the already chaotic and wacky plot, Disney can’t do much wrong. Sunny pictures, a lot of heart and Elvis Presley, that’s all it takes!
