Lince Works studio (Aragami, Aragami 2) announces closure

While Barcelona is emerging as a flagship destination for the video game industry thanks in particular to the support of the government of Catalonia (Paradox, Larian, IO Interactive, NetEase Games and Smilegate have all opened a studio there recently), the independent studio Lince Works announces with regret that its activities will end next month, in April, after nine years of existence. First supported by Kickstarter, Lince Works released Aragami, a stealth game inspired by titles like Tenchu, in October 2016. Its co-op sequel, Aragami 2, was released in September 2021 but was unfortunately less well received. than its predecessor. While the team was hard at work on new projects, the company was finally caught up in certain economic realities.

In lack of time and money

The last two years have been particularly difficult, as we have moved towards the development of new licenses and towards a new direction for the company. We were ambitious about what we wanted to achieve as a studio, but unfortunately, although we made good progress, the economic environment was not favorable and we ran out of time. It breaks our hearts to know that all the work we have done over the past year will ultimately come to nothing.“, can we read in the press release posted on Twitter.

The latter also confirms that the two studio games will remain available for sale on all platforms and that online cooperation will remain functional. “We will always be grateful to our community and players around the world. Your loyalty and passion for our games has been our driving force, and we cannot thank you enough for the invaluable support you have given us throughout these years. We would like to assure you that Aragami and Aragami 2 will remain available on all platforms and in all stores, and that online co-op will be accessible.
