Actress Linda Haynes has died at the age of 75. After successes in the 1970s, she gave up her career.

American actress Linda Haynes is dead. As her family announced in an obituary, Haynes died “peacefully surrounded by her family” on July 17 in Summerville, South Carolina. Linda Lee Sylvander, her real name, was 75 years old. A cause of death was not given. She was a kind-hearted and wise woman who touched the lives of those around her with her loving spirit, it said.

Haynes is best known for her roles in the 1977 thriller “Rolling Thunder” alongside Tommy Lee Jones (76) and her involvement in the 1980 prison drama “Brubaker” with Robert Redford (86). A short time later she left Hollywood and gave up her acting career.

Quentin Tarantino came out as a big fan

Her son Greg Sylvander confirmed on his Facebook page also the death of his beloved mother. “As an only child, I’ve been afraid of these lines my whole life,” Sylvander wrote last Friday. He is satisfied because he knows that his mother lived in peace and had “the best life” with her grandchildren in recent years.

Despite the sudden and unexplained end of her career, Linda Haynes has never been forgotten by many filmmakers. Quentin Tarantino came out as a big Haynes fan. After retiring from the film business in Hollywood, Haynes worked as a secretary in a law firm and pursued her hobby of painting. In 2019, she moved to North Carolina to be close to her son and grandchildren in her retirement.

According to the obituary, she herself often described the last years of her life as the time when she felt where she was “really at home”.
