Just in time for the start of the Christmas season, ARD Plus has a “Lindenstrasse” Christmas special available to stream.

“Lindenstrasse” for Christmas: A nostalgic special will soon be available on ARD Plus with 35 episodes. Fans expect emotional flashbacks.

From 1985 to 2020 the “Lindenstrasse” has become a fixed date in the television program for many fans: The characters of the family series also regularly celebrated Christmas on the TV screens. Just in time for the upcoming Advent season, the online streaming service ARD Plus is now adding a special Christmas special to its program: Available from December 6th 35 festive Christmas episodes of “Lindenstrasse” are available digitally, as WDR subsidiary ARD Plus GmbH announced in a press release on Monday (November 27th).

Using the video-on-demand offer, all die-hard “Lindenstrasse” fans can then “enjoy an impressive journey through time through over 30 years of television history”. ARD Plus makes content available that is no longer available in the ARD media library. A subscription costs 4.99 euros per month, ARD Plus can also be tested free of charge for 14 days to get to know it.

The first two seasons of the cult series “Lindenstrasse” are already available to stream. From now on, a new season of the popular TV series will be posted online every Thursday. All 1,758 episodes should be available over the next few months.

That’s why “Lindenstrasse” was so successful

The television series “Lindenstrasse” was invented by Hans W. Geißendörfer (82) and is considered the first German soap opera. The last episode was broadcast on March 29, 2020. Before that, it ran on German television for 34 years from December 9, 1985.

Among other things, it was celebrated for depicting social and political developments as well as current events. Many actors such as Marie-Luise Marjan (83) as mother Beimer or Andrea Spatzek (64) as Gabi Zenker were there from the beginning. Other stars of the series were Joachim Hermann Luger (80), who died after more than 30 years as Hans Beimer, or Moritz Sachs (45) alias Klaus Beimer and Rebecca Siemoneit-Barum (45) as Iphigenie “Iffi” Zenker and Sybille Waury (53, Tanja Schildknecht) or Martin Armknecht (61, Robert Engel).
