The famous Android ROM goes into high gear. Lineage OS
has just announced the end of support for its version based on Android 10.

About 30 devices compatible with LineageOS 17.1 will no longer receive updates. Efforts are now focused on the 19.0 version.

End clap for LineageOS 17.1

LineageOS 17.1 is retiring. Based on Android 10, this old version will no longer be supported by the community and will not receive updates in the future. This announcement concerns about thirty compatible devices (Google Pixel, OnePlus Nord, Realme 2 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A3, A7 and J7 etc.) which will nevertheless still be able to run the current version, without hoping for new features later. A decision that the teams also justify by the lack of capacity of their servers, but the main reason is quite different: they are looking to the future.

The developers will indeed focus on LineageOS 19.0, the next version based on Android 12 particularly awaited by the community. This Android ROM makes it possible to offer a real makeover to old smartphones that are no longer supported by their manufacturer by allowing them to run the latest versions of the operating system. This therefore makes it possible to extend the life of the devices, but its use by the general public is still hampered by the technical manipulations it requires. Pending the deployment of version 19.0, scheduled for an undetermined date, users of obsolete Android smartphones can emulate Android 11 thanks to LineageOS 18.1.
