LinkedIn will put ChatGPT at the service of its users

LinkedIn having Microsoft as its parent company, it was to be expected that the social network would integrate ChatGPT into its platform. It’s done: users will be able to use artificial intelligence to improve their profile. Still in testing for now, and reserved for LinkedIn Premium subscribers, the new tool will help those users write custom texts for the About and Title sections on their profile, the platform said. According to screenshots shared by Social Media Today, affected users will see a pop-up offering them to use the new assistant. By pressing Start, the tool will draw on your data and that of “millions of other profiles”. Users will still be able to edit their text.

If its use seems quick and easy, the tool still has one hell of a negative point: that of potentially generating similar texts for certain positions, thus destroying any originality. This aid could therefore prove to be counter-productive for anyone wishing to stand out in their own market. “Of course, personalization is still important. That’s why we encourage you to review and edit suggested content before adding it to your profile, to make sure it’s accurate and matches your tone and experience.“, said Tomer Cohen, Chief Product Officer at LinkedIn. The tool should be rolled out to all Premium users in the coming months, the professional social network said.

In addition to offering this tool to users, LinkedIn is also seeking to simplify the creation of job descriptions in job offers published on the platform. “Here’s how it works: When you’re ready to post a job, all you need to do is provide some basic information, including the job title and company name. Our tool then generates a proposed job description that you can review and modify, saving you time and effort while giving you the flexibility to adapt it to your needs. By streamlining this part of the recruiting process, you can focus your energy on more strategic aspects of your job.“.
