Reality overtakes parody even faster than expected.

As soon as ChatGPT and its ilk started to make their first sparks, smart guys had the idea to make them write LinkedIn posts. Repetitive, often meaningless and filled with buzzwords, the results were simply larger than life. But what was a joke for some Internet users has become a great idea in corporate minds who manage the social network, to the point of working on integrating such a tool directly into the platform.

How does this tool work?

In a post on LinkedIn that she probably wrote herself, Keren Baruch, product manager of the social network, announced the upcoming arrival of an AI assistant to generate posts directly ready to be posted. She explains : ” We understand that when you want to post on LinkedIn, you often have a clear idea of what you want to say, but going from a good idea to a post can be complicated and time-consuming. So would writing hundreds of productivity posts be bad for productivity?

Concretely, when this functionality is implemented, an AI can help you write long and deep texts on creative disruption. It will be enough for that, in any case at the beginning, to indicate to him at least 30 words ” that underline what you mean and let the artificial intelligence generate a perfectly authentic text, which you will then be free to modify as you wish. It’s ready ! More than posting your precious advice to an impatient audience. Baruch did not specify whether this tool would be available to everyone or only to premium members.

Finally, what does it change?

This announcement from LinkedIn is not exactly a surprise. Few companies aren’t desperately looking for a way to jump on the AI bandwagon, and to be honest, it’s probably not the most absurd use that has been found.

But the fact remains that if the practice were to become widespread, we could ask ourselves an even stronger and already very present question: who is going to read this? Because if many of the texts posted on the platform are already disembodied and all look alike, at least we can imagine that a real person took his precious time as a lecturer in strategic entrepreneurship to write them. A slight interest that is not certain to survive the change.

LinkedIn is not the first social network to take this direction, after Snapchat and especially Meta. But if the trend continues, we can imagine that under these posts extolling a new digital synergy by getting up at 4 a.m. to drink tomato juice, we will probably find countless encouraging comments which, too, have never been typed by humans.
