“From an early age people talked: ‘Will the bridge come or won’t it.’ This moment, the last blast, is something very, very special,” beamed Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) on Tuesday afternoon in the “Urfahrwänd” with his wife Bettina Stelzer-Wögerer. As the tunnel godmother, she was allowed to trigger the last blast during the construction of the Linz Westring Bridge. And in future the “Bettina Tunnel” will also bear her name. For her big moment, Upper Austria’s “First Lady” was even presented with a protective helmet specially made for her.
