Lisa Grill’s comeback – “It’s going in a good direction”

Skier Lisa Grill is on her way back from a complicated injury. It is still unclear when she will be back on the “bars”.

Lisa Grill has not completed a race since February 2021. At that time, the woman from Lungau suffered a broken tibia and fibula in the European Cup in Santa Caterina (It). Five operations under general anesthesia – the last operation took place in July – and a year and a half later the Lungau woman is on the mend. “I am pain-free and can also cope well with my everyday life. Everything is going in a good direction,” the 22-year-old says happily. Why did Grill decide to continue after such setbacks? “Because you remember how much you like to ski,” explains the three-time silver medalist at the Junior World Championships in Narvik, Norway in 2020. The 22-year-old is currently toiling away in Rif and Bad Gastein. Fitness training is on the program. “Like in the summer preparation,” says Grill. “I don’t want to name a time” Katharina Gallhuber, who won slalom bronze in Pyeongchang (Kor) in 2018 and is suffering from a serious knee injury, meets her occasionally. As with the Lower Austrian, Grill’s return will take even longer. “I don’t want to give a date,” she says. At least it looks good that her tale of woe will soon be over.
