Olivier Véran alerted the French to the country’s health situation during his hearing by the Law Commission of the National Assembly on the bill establishing the vaccination pass in France. The Minister of Health sent a message to the unvaccinated people.
Olivier Véran is sounding the alarm. The Minister of Health was heard on Wednesday, December 29 by the Law Commission of the National Assembly on the bill establishing the vaccination pass in France. A hearing broadcast live on 24-hour news channels, including BFM TV. Olivier Véran pleaded the vaccine pass bill by evoking the risks engendered for unvaccinated people. “I’m saying it, not as a threat I’m a doctor and I treat people the same, said Olivier Véran. There is little chance that you will pass between the drops, the circulation of the virus is too strong, and the people most prone to catching the virus are those who are not vaccinated. “
Olivier Véran pleads for “collective freedoms”
In a second time, Olivier Véran detailed the health situation of the country which turns out to be “worrying because of the Delta wave, and energizes many regions which have launched white plans”. The Minister of Health affirmed that people in intensive care are overwhelmingly unvaccinated. “Ile-de-France hospitals have carried out massive deprogramming due to the admission of a certain number of patients, he explained. 70% of patients who are in intensive care in Paris hospitals are not vaccinated. And of those who are vaccinated, 80% of them are basically immunocompromised. “
Olivier Véran however wished to reassure the French by affirming to seek measures which do not undermine “collective freedoms”. And to do this, the vaccination pass will not be required “to go to the hospital or to an Ehpad”. “We do not want to prohibit access to care for the unvaccinated”, he estimated.
