Gamescom 2023 was the occasion for the Little Nightmares franchise to make a comeback with a third installment. But this sequel will be quite different from its elders.
We no longer believed it, and yet, the horror game Little Nightmares is indeed back. Tarsier Studios had said that the franchise was not going to return anytime soon, but that was without counting the arrival of another studio to take up the torch. This time, it’s Supermassive Games, known for Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures anthology, which will take care of this third opus.
Little Nightmares for two is better
Once again, we are immersed in a dark and tortured universe that will have no mercy for our little protagonists. For this sequel, a change of scenery, we are no longer on a boat, but in the heart of a desert town inhabited by nightmarish creatures. Like Little Nightmares 2, our adventures will be alongside another character. However, there is a small difference to note. Before, the player had no choice, he had to play Mono and not Six. In short, the second game in the series could not be played cooperatively. The formula has changed, to the delight of fans.
Yes, Little Nightmares 3 can be done with two players. This opens up an unexpected field of possibilities for the series which, until now, only offered a solo adventure. Such a proposal will, for example, make the puzzles more complex, vary them and surprise veterans of the franchise. The chases will undoubtedly be more frantic, because this time you will have to depend on your partner to survive. There will even potentially be better replayability. As for the release date, for the moment, it is fixed in 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. We have no additional information at this time.
