In the first chapter of Little Witch In The Woods, you will need to unlock the Wisteria Village Carpenter, Kyla. However, for this, you must complete the main quest “Find the Prickly Vine Core”. In the following, we show you the procedure to follow in order to carry out this quest and unlock Kyla.

Main Quest: “Find the Prickly Vine Core”
In order to complete the “Find the Prickly Vine Core” main quest, you will first need to complete the “Concoct the Moon’s… Blah Blah Potion” sub-objective. Indeed, since the beginning of the adventure Little Witch In The Woods, Ellie has a memo she can’t read. Writing is an ancient language. However, it is essential to decipher this document.
To do this, go talk to Diane. Ask this NPC about it. She will then reveal to you that a certain potion could allow you to understand this language. Purchase the “Enhance Intellect Potion” recipe, via the Witch’s Catalogue, for 10 Luna Coins. Then, go in search of the requested resources in order to concoct the said potion.
- 1 Dried Pumpkin Terrier Fur (obtained by putting 4 Pumpkin Terrier Fur in the Roaster).
- 1 Bird Flower Water (obtained by putting 4 Bird Flower in the Extractor).
Once you have these elements, place them in the cauldron (“Witch’s Pot”), choose level 3 for the fire and select “do not mix”. You will then get the “Enhance Intellect Potion” decoction. All you have to do is drink the potion and read the memo. From then on, you will learn the “Tears of the Moon” recipe, which will be useful to you later. Besides, we advise you to make it now, so as not to waste time. For this you will need:
- Moonflower Water (obtained by putting 1 Moonflower in the Extractor).
- Sacred Water (Diane will give it to you, as soon as you tell her about it).
Put the fire on level 2 and mix from the right. You have the “Tears of the Moon” potion. From then on, you must find the location of the heart of the thorny/bramble vines (“nucleus”). Meet near the top of the forest, in the “Green Forest Plateau” area. In order to access the left part of this region, you need to grow the ‘Withered Beansprout’, using the ‘Nutrition Potion’ decoction.
Diane sells the recipe for said potion, requiring:
- Silver Starbell Pollen Extract (obtained by putting 2 Silver Starbell Pollen in the Extractor).
- Shake the blue flowers that shine in the night and catch the pollen that escapes with the net.
- Maple Herb Extract (obtained by putting 2 Maple Herb in the Extractor).
- Bush Bug Extract (obtained by putting 2 Bush Bug in the Extractor).
- Shake the bushes and catch the yellow insect that comes out of it, with the net.
Once you have the “Nutrition Potion”, return to the “Green Forest Plateau” area and use it on the “Withered Beansprout”. This will allow you to reach the “Green Forest Waterfall” region.
Unfortunately, there, you will find the Gaga Bird and it will prevent you from passing, because of the noises it emits. So, buy the “Earnmuff Potion” recipe, for 10 Luna Coins, from Diane. Craft the potion, using:
- One Eye Frog Roast (obtained by putting 2 One Eye Fog in the Roaster).
- Catch the frogs that appear at night in the “Green Forest Waterfall” area with your net.
- Wetland Grass Water (obtained by putting 2 Wetland Grass in the Extractor).
- Also to be found in the “Green Forest Waterfall” region.
- Blue Moon Butterfly Extract (obtained by putting 2 Blue Moon Butterfly in the Extractor).
Once all these ingredients are in the cauldron, select level 1 for the fire and “mix from the left”. From now on, you can return to see the Gaga Bird and use the said potion, in order to access a new area.
Following the roots to the ground, you will quickly find yourself in front of a locked door. Return to the area where you rescued Rubrum and unlock the door in front of you, thanks to the “Witch’s Blue Chack” item, which you automatically picked up a few seconds ago. Solve the two puzzles that come your way. For this you will need to use a “Nutrition Potion” and a “Weed Terminator Potion”. In the middle of the last room, you will find a “Witch’s Red Chack”. Pick up the item.
Eventually, head to the sealed door, which you saw after scaring away the Gaga Bird. Open the door and interact with the red mark on the ground, allowing you to remove the cage, surrounding the heart of the vine (“nucleus”). Use the “Tears of Moon” potion.
You now have completed the main quest “Find the Prickly Vine Core”. Return to the village and speak with Enite, in order to write the letter inviting Kyla to return to Wistera. Deliver the letter to Aurea. The next day you will realize that Kyla has arrived at Wisteria.
As a reminder, Little Witch in the Woods is currently available in early access on PC (Steam) and via the Game Pass. The development studio, SUNNY SIDE UP, has unfortunately not yet given a precise release date for version 1.0 of the software.
