Sunday, the 15th stage of the Tour de France between Les Gets and Saint-Gervais represents a new opportunity for Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar, still neck and neck, to try to make a difference in the Alps. 179 km long, the stage offers five listed climbs, including three of first category, until the arrival at the summit in Saint-Gervais, at the foot of Mont-Blanc.

Maybe that will give time for a breakaway to gain ground. For the leaders, the final is necessarily a big fight because it is one of the four finishes at the top of this edition”, explains Thierry Gouvenou, the Tour tracer.

A final climb with passages at 17%

While Vingegaard and Pogacar are held in ten seconds in the general classification, the final climb to Bettex in the Amerands coast, with passages at 17%, constitutes an ideal springboard to attack, on the eve of the rest day. Romain Bardet, who gave up on a fall on Saturday in the first alpine stage, won alone in Saint-Gervais in 2016 two days from the finish in Paris to lock in his second place finish. Departure from Les Gets Les Portes du Soleil at 1:05 p.m. (launched at 1:20 p.m.), arrival in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc at 6:17 p.m. (timetable calculated on an average of 36 km/h).
