Liverpool FC finds Klopp’s successor: Arne Slot from Feyenoord Rotterdam is to come

Reds strike in Rotterdam
Liverpool apparently agree with Klopp’s successor’s club

Arne Slot wants to go to Liverpool FC – and Feyenoord Rotterdam is apparently ready to let his coach move to the Premier League. The Reds have reportedly found Jurgen Klopp’s successor. Liverpool has already reached an agreement with Feyenoord.

Liverpool FC has apparently successfully completed the search for a successor to coach Jürgen Klopp. As the English and Dutch media reported unanimously, everything speaks in favor of signing the Dutch football coach Arne Slot. Accordingly, the Premier League club has reached an oral agreement with Slot’s current employer Feyenoord Rotterdam about a change. According to the Daily Mail, around 10 million euros are being discussed as a transfer fee for the 45-year-old. Enforcement could already be reported this Saturday.

Klopp had previously spoken positively about his possible successor. “I like the way his team plays football. Everything I’ve heard about him is that he’s a good guy, a good coach. If he’s the solution, I’m more than happy,” said Klopp the press conference before the game at West Ham United. But he was not involved in the process, said Klopp.

Slot had clearly positioned himself on the sidelines of his club Feyenoord Rotterdam’s league game on Thursday. “I want to become the new Liverpool coach. My decision is clear. Feyenoord and Liverpool are in negotiations. I’ll wait to see what comes of it,” said Slot on ESPN. He still has a two-year contract with Feyenoord.

Slot has been working successfully at Feyenoord since the 2021/22 season, where he succeeded Dick Advocaat. In his debut season he reached the European Cup final of the Conference League with Rotterdam, and a year later he led the club to the championship. Last Sunday Rotterdam won the national cup final under Slot.

Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season after almost nine years. The successful coach no longer expects to win the championship after Wednesday’s 0-2 defeat at Everton FC. “I don’t expect them (Arsenal and Manchester City) to lose two games. If they do, it would be stupid not to be there,” he said.
