Which living trend will accompany us in 2022? Guido Maria Kretschmer is certain: It will be romantic…

The new year starts grey, dark and for most of us again: at home. It is already the second winter that we are spending in our own four walls due to the pandemic. But we have a big advantage over last year: we now know how to make things look nice. Acceptance is a hard-learned virtue of 2021 that we can put to good use in 2022. And if we have to stay at home a lot, we can use the time to make a fresh start.

Guido Maria Kretschmer is not only a fashion but also a decoration expert and took a look into the crystal ball for us in an interview – and discovered a living trend for 2022 in it that is good for our home and soul. Because he sees it very clearly: romance!

Living trend 2022: We need more romance than ever

“Romance is definitely a living trend, I definitely think so,” Guido tells us. This time it stays very classic, because “it won’t even be that new romantic, but really just romantic.” That means in detail: It will be a rosy year.

Not only roses are the focus of romance, it can become more flowery in general: Playful, ornate designs can be found in decorative elements such as mirrors as well as on ornate table and chair legs. Natural and pastel colors go well with this, and the shabby chic style also goes well with the romantic trend.

The nice thing about the living trend is that old and new can be wonderfully combined in it. For reasons of sustainability alone, nobody should replace their entire furnishings; rather, individual, skilfully staged pieces bring a romantic flair into the home. This can be a vase of flowers that has been put in the spotlight or beautiful vintage furniture from a second-hand shop. Because antique furniture in particular provides that certain something and can be prepared, painted or repainted according to individual taste.

“I also think that it’s good for families to drive a little romance again”, Guido Maria Kretschmer explains his forecast, because the living trend would definitely do something to our emotional world: “We are at home a lot, the world can be very hard, and romance is a tried and tested way to prevent anxiety.”
