Livret A, LDDS, LEP, Livret jeune… Official rates as of February 1, 2022

As of Tuesday, February 1, the rates for regulated savings products will be modified. That of Livret A and LDDS will double. That of LEP will do even better.

There will be changes for regulated savings products as of February 1. This Friday, Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, unveiled the new rates which will come into force next month.

February 1 and August 1: it is on these dates that the public authorities re-examine in particular the remuneration of the Livret A and judge whether it is necessary to adapt it. Due in particular to the sharp rise in prices recorded in recent months, the Livret A will therefore drop from 0.5%, its lowest level ever, 1%.

This is an unprecedented decision for the more than 55 million holders of this red booklet. This is the first time since August 2011 that the rate of the preferred savings product of the French has been revised upwards.

In the wake of Livret A, its twin, the Sustainable and solidarity development booklet, will also experience an increase in its rate 1%.

Same for the young booklet whose remuneration cannot be less than 1% compared to 0.5% today. While some banks are already offering significantly higher rates like HSBC (2%), other major national networks will have to adapt to be in the nails of the regulations. This is the case, for example, of the Livret Jeune Mozac from Crdit Agricole or the Livret Jeune from BNP Paribas.

But the big winner remains the People’s savings account. Its rate will increase from 1% to 2.2%. A godsend for savers who can benefit from it. Indeed, with inflation which has reached – on average – 2.2% over the last 6 months, the LEP is the only savings account today capable of protecting its beneficiary from rising prices. In other words, by putting part of your savings on it, you will not experience any immediate decline in purchasing power. 15million French households are eligible for LEP but only 7million have one. Remember to check if you can take advantage of it.
