Five months before the presidential election, the government is giving the French a boost. And not least. It is Bruno the Mayor, the Minister of the Economy, who came to announce it this Friday, January 14, during the 1 p.m. news on TF1 by Jacques Legros. It concerns the revaluation of the rate of several savings accounts. First of all, the Livret A. It goes “double on February 1: it will go from 0.5% to 1%”, reveals the boss of Bercy. A measure that will do good for the bank account of 55 million people who have subscribed to it. This is the first time that this rate has been reviewed for ten years, and it is not unrelated to the health crisis, which would have had a number of economic consequences weighing on inflation, and constraints for the citizens, whom the State intends to compensate.
Livret A, LDDS and popular booklet will be reboosted
Furthermore, the Minister asserts that the Sustainable and Solidarity Development Booklet (LDDS) will also be increased to 1%, while the popular booklet will “more than double and go from 1% to 2.2%”. “It was the recommendations of the Governor of the Banque de France, which we follow scrupulously”, recalls Bruno the Mayor. Nevertheless, Jacques Legros specifies for his part that the effort made on the last booklet mentioned concerns fewer French people. Indeed, only 7 million of them have opened one, out of the 15 million taxpayers who receive less than 20,000 euros per year.

“I would like to take advantage of this program to encourage them to open a popular savings account, which is better paid, especially in this period of inflation, precisely reacts the former elected Les Républicains. We are going to ask the banks to promote this booklet (…) It is a way of protecting the purchasing power of the French”. For those concerned, they should now expect to receive an email from the ministry in the coming days, as reported by Bruno Le Maire who also defended the measure to regulate electricity and fuel prices. .
