Livret A, LEP… These millions of euros of savings that may belong to you without knowing it

Livret A, LDDS, LEP, PEL, these booklets earn between 3% and 6% interest for savers. Despite attractive rates, nearly 530,000 of these passbooks ended up in default and were transferred in 2022 to the Caisse des Dépts et Consignations.

526742 booklets A, Sustainable and Solidarity Development booklets (LDDS) and Popular Savings booklets (LEP) were transferred to the Caisse des Dépts in 2022, for a total moment of 131.9 million euros.

These millions have found no takers. Since the Eckert law of 2016, the Caisse des Dépts recovers millions of euros of unclaimed savings each year. Indeed, if the holder of an inactive savings account does not come forward, his investment is kept by the bank for 10 years and is then entrusted to the Caisse des Dépts for the following twenty years, before being transferred to the State.
