Load twice – Confirmed: BMW M5 comes as a brute power station wagon

With the M3, BMW has already answered the wish of many fans for a station wagon – and for the first time. Now the Munich have confirmed that they also want to bring the new M5 as a touring.

The BMW M5 already has a tradition as a cargo space rocket, but the last model rolled off the assembly line 13 years ago. Only two series of the M5 were launched as a station wagon: 891 pieces from the E34 from 1992 to 1995 and 1025 pieces from the E61 with high-speed V10 from 2007 to 2010. Next year the third series of the BMW M5 Touring will start with the G99 – and the should be an ultimate brute plug-in hybrid that combines a V8 with an electric motor. We have already got to know and appreciate a version of this in the BMW XM, where a total of 653 hp are unleashed. However, the M5 should be significantly stronger. “Driving dynamics and agility on a level that is unique in this vehicle class” promises M GmbH and that means that the new M5 is far ahead of its predecessor with up to 635 hp (M5 CS, otherwise 600 or 625 hp). has to surpass – after all, thanks to its double heart and battery, it will be lugging around a lot of weight that has to be compensated for with performance. So it will at least be the expansion stage with 748 system hp from the XM Label Red, even if maybe only in the Competition variant. Of course, the Touring, like the identically motorized limousine, will also be tuned to racetracks such as the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, as well as to public ones streets. Around Munich, the chance of seeing some camouflaged specimens in the wild will be particularly high. The 5 Series BMW will start this year, the M5 will probably come in 2024 at the earliest. There may also be a purely electric M5 – with over 1000 hp!
