(CercleFinance.com) – Lockheed Martin and Microsoft today announced a historic expansion of their strategic relationship to contribute to the next generation of technology on behalf of the United States Department of Defense (DOD).
The agreement covers several critical areas. Microsoft will notably make Lockheed Martin the first non-governmental entity to operate independently in the Microsoft Azure Government Secret cloud, ‘using a new era of cloud opportunities for industry’.
The partners have also launched a two-year collaborative R&D program to advance AI and machine learning capabilities. The collaboration will also focus on advanced 5G networking and security capabilities.
Finally, Microsoft Azure is expected to propel Lockheed Martin’s digital transformation journey, accelerating enterprise-wide productivity gains to ‘deliver innovation at scale, improve choice and flexibility, and create the next generation of defense technologies’.
