Lockheed Martin: Improves Secure Data Transfer

(CercleFinance.com) – Lockheed Martin and Verizon flew 5G-equipped drones to capture and transfer intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data at high speed and in real time from aircraft in flight to geolocate military targets.

The companies demonstrated two key technological advances:

First, real-time streaming radio frequency (RF) and video data was transmitted over 5G links to allow advanced algorithms to run.

Second, the technology detected and geolocated RF signals that could be used for communications, detection, or jamming and allow the Department of Defense to detect and target adversary assets in a military environment.

“By blending commercial 5G capabilities with military capabilities, we are helping to make the DOD’s vision of integrated deterrence a reality,” said Dan Rice, vice president of 5G.MIL programs at Lockheed Martin.

Srini Kalapala, senior vice president for technology and product development at Verizon adds, “Our ultra-broadband 5G private networks deliver the security, reliability, capacity and low latency that the defense industry depends on. ‘
